Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

CIR Chat Sessions

Overview

The Co-Op, Internship, and Research (CIR) Chat Session is a monthly hybrid event where Choose Ohio First (COF) upperclassmen have the opportunity to present about their past or current work-based learning experiences. Freshman and sophomore attendees can ask questions and interact with guest speakers. Some questions from students in the past have been:

  • How did you hear about this opportunity?
  • How did you go about applying for the work-based learning?
  • How does this experience apply to your career goals?
  • Do you want to pursue this field/profession once you graduate?
  • What was your favorite part about the experience?
  • What was the biggest challenge during the experience and what adjustments you made to overcome it?
  • What was something you learned about yourself from this experience?
  • What do you recommend or what advice do you have to future applicants?

University faculty, staff, COF scholars from Columbus, Lima, Mansfield, Marion, and Newark campus are invited to join virtually as well as COF students from Columbus State Community College. The event is a great resource for COF scholars to develop oral and/or poster presentation skills, ask powerful questions to presenters, interact with other COF scholars and Ohio State staff/faculty, and learn about what others have been working on during their academic and professional journey in the COF scholarship program at Ohio State.
