COF scholars must complete, attend, and satisfy the following each academic year:
Autumn Term
- Sign Statement of Intent for the new academic year.
- Make sure to have access to the COF webpage in Carmen Canvas.
- Attend COF Welcome Orientation Meeting.
- Columbus: Complete 45 hours of STEMM activities (2-3 hours per week).
- Lima, Mansfield, Marion, Newark: Complete 15 hours of STEMM activities (1-2 hours per week).
- Complete Autumn Mid-Semester Survey.
- Timely response and communication with OHSE staff as requested.
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.
- Submit COF Scholarship Renewal Application through Scholarship Universe.
Spring Term
- Attend COF Follow Up Meeting.
- Columbus: Complete 45 hours of STEMM activities (2-3 hours per week).
- Lima, Mansfield, Marion, Newark: Complete 15 hours of STEMM activities (1-2 hours per week).
- Complete Spring Mid-Semester Survey.
- Complete End of the Year Survey.
- Timely response and communication with OHSE staff as requested.
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher each semester.
There are five steps for renewing the COF scholarship:
- GPA review (each term).
- Must maintain a cumulative 3.00 GPA or higher.
- STEMM hour review (each term).
- Columbus: Must complete 45 hours of STEMM activities per semester (2-3 hours per week).
- Lima, Mansfield, Marion, Newark: Must complete 15 hours of STEMM activities (1-2 hours per week).
- COF Scholarship Renewal Application through Scholarship Universe (by the end of Autumn term)
- Complete the Student Financial Aid Scholarship Application.
- Complete the College of Engineering general application (if applicable).
- Complete the End of the Year survey (by the end of Spring term).
- Activity and program review.
- Complete the Statement of Intent for the follow academic year (Summer).
- Acknowledge and accept scholar expectation.
Students in the COF scholarship program must complete at least one work-based learning experience before graduation. Work-based learning opportunities are designed to provide authentic learning experiences for students to link academic knowledge with technical and professional skills. Business and education partners work together to evaluate and supervise the experiences. Types of work-based learning experience includes but are not limited to:
- Paid internship.
- Unpaid internship.
- Paid research experience.
- Unpaid research experience.
- Cooperative education experience (Co-op).
- Supervised agriculture experience.
- Clinical experience.
- Working as a Teaching Assistant (TA) at Ohio State.
- Working in a private laboratory or any other experience that connects classroom with employment.
The Ohio House of Science and Engineering facilitate opportunities students with potential places to complete work-based learning experiences. Please note that this is not the same as the 45-hour (or 15-hour) of STEMM activities requirement each semester.
