Outside of her general schoolwork, Megumi participates in the Software Engineering club and hopes to one day become a Software Engineer herself in the future. During the Autumn 2023 term, Megumi had the pleasure of working as a TA for the Software Components class within OSU’s CSE department. She has been assisting in teaching a class about the basics of Java, Object Oriented Programming, and the best practices that go with them. She has also been grading and holding her own office hours to help students outside of the regularly scheduled labs. Along with working as a TA, within the Software Engineering club, she has worked with a team to create a Discord bot utilizing Visual Studio Code and Python to parse webpages and give feedback to the user based on their input. Once Megumi graduates, she hopes to have gained enough experience in the field of Software Engineering to land a job in Software Development where she may more apply her skills and grow to be the best Software Engineer she can be! Megumi was able to find this experience through her hard work in class and through her professor who was kind enough to notice just how much she loved the class and who believed in her potential to do something more.Megumi will present her teaching experience in the CIR Chat Session on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 5:30PM - 7:00PM in Smith Lab Room 1076 (SM1076). The COF program has impacted by academic career by pushing me to involve myself in more things outside of class. For instance, I have joined the Software Engineering club in which I have been able to gain experience in more aspects of creating software and have been able to create projects to add to my resume. The program has also pushed me to be more outgoing to achieve more in my classes.
