Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Title: The Power of Perserverance

Eduan Martinez-Soto is an Academic Program Services Specialist and the Program Manager of the Choose Ohio First (COF) scholarship at The Ohio State University. He is also a Ph.D. candidate in the STEM Education program within the Teaching and Learning Department at Ohio State. His research interests focus on how pre-service teachers implement mathematical modeling practices in their classrooms. This approach can allow prospective teachers to promote student engagement and develop skills such as reasoning, communication, decision-making, and the incorporation of technological tools.

Eduan mentors more than 250 students at Ohio State and provides support in connecting them with career opportunities in the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering. This includes guidance on securing internships, co-ops, and research with local industry companies and connecting with campus career services. He also oversees the collaboration across multiple departments including Ohio State regional campuses to create interdisciplinary opportunities that support student success.

Eduan will present about his research and internship experiences at different institutions across the United States and internationally on Thursday, April 17, 2025 in Smith Lab Room 1009 (SM1009).
