The Choose Ohio First (COF) CIR Chat Session #1 was full of connection and great discussion with COF scholars Grace Hynus (EFC) and Ilya Nikitin (IBEO-Engineering). They interacted with attendees about their work-based learning experiences ranging from software engineering and biomedical innovation to mentorship. The discussion was helpful in providing ideas for ways in which students can have an impact through combining their interests and career aspirations.

The COF fellows in attendance in Smith Lab 1009 from Ohio State Columbus were interactive with Grace and Ilya’s experience and asked a wide variety of questions around their involvement in undergraduate research, internships, and the process to applying for them. They also discussed the value of academic and personal development in their respective experiences. The virtual event attendees from the Ohio State Lima, Mansfield, Marion, and Newark were receptive to the open and honest conversation from both Grace and Ilya as they discussed their path to academic success and impact.

The COF scholarship program would like to thank Grace and Ilya for sharing your stories, experiences, and ideas with the CIR Chat Sessions audience. A big thank you to all of the COF fellows in attendance who made the sessions so lively and engaging.
